1932 census: figures
[edit]I've found figures of the 1932 census in: Rania Maktabi, The Lebanese Census of 1932 Revisited. Who Are the Lebanese?, British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, Vol. 26, No. 2 (Nov., 1999), pp. 219-241, also at [1], at [2] and at [3]----Bancki (talk) 14:06, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

wow im impressed
[edit]there literally isnt proper demographic data here. "a 2021 study found that so and so of the population were part of these unsubstanciated christian groups". terrible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.213.94.237 (talk) 12:32, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
Suboptimal use of EI
[edit]As the source is depreciated, I am generally in favor of removing it. However, as we need a source for now and this is not an area of highly significant bias, I would suggest having it remain for now FortunateSons (talk) 01:46, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Largest proportion of Christians of any Middle Eastern country
[edit]As it stands now, the article states that "Lebanon has by far the largest proportion of Christians of any Middle Eastern country..." Unfortunately the hyperlink directs not to the article on the Middle East but to on on the Arab World which isn't the same thing, despite a lot of overlap. The statement is true only if we exclude from the Middle East Cyprus, which is usually included. Probably over 70% of the population of the whole island of Cyprus is Christian and closer to 90% of the part of the island controlled by Nicosia. This is far greater than the proportion in Lebanon, which is probably only about 40%. 50.49.126.49 (talk) 15:41, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Table of ethnic groups
[edit]I’ve removed a table of statistics on ethnic groups for two reasons (as noted in the diff).
- The citation included only a link to the homepage of the Administration centrale de la statistique. I cannot find any table there, so I have removed it.
- The first version of the table contained a reference to the Administration but also had completely different numbers; it was inserted by @Wigglebuy579579. The same user then appears to have modified the table and the pie charts in a series of 26 edits. The overall effect is that the proportion of Lebanese Arabs, initially 70–80 per cent from 1950 to 2010 and then 50.3% in 2020 is decreased to under 50 per cent from 1950 to 2020, and some years are inserted.
- I have to confess that this looks rather like vandalism, especially given that no more detailed source is known—in particular, where even is this original table? Finally, I note that this user was blocked for ‘creating incorrect references and articles’. I therefore intend to report these edits as probable vandalism.
